A soul in a storm cries out — and finds the one Lord who was never shaken.
There’s a darkness that surrounds me, an emptiness in my soul,
A feeling deep within me that there’s nowhere I can go,
The boat I’m in is rocking; the storm is so severe,
I feel a few more gusts of wind and I will disappear.
Nations they conspire, The enemy is at hand
All my hope of rescue gone, It’s hard for me to stand
Their words cannot be trusted, Who could be my friend
Thoughts of death have crossed my mind, Will it be my end
But in the midst of all these things, O Lord
I turn my gaze to you
And I know, I know, I know for sure,
that you will take me through.
Cause you are the Lord of the heavens
You’re the Lord of all the earth
You’re the master of creation
From whom the world took birth.
So when you tell me to trust you, Lord
Then I can rest assured
Cause you’re the Lord of the universe
And a person of your word
My foes rise up against me, and the nations plot and plan
There’s no hope of rescue, and things seem out of hand,
My pursuers they chase me, I know they want me dead,
I see that there is nothing that looks promising ahead.
The cords of death they bind me, I feel so overwhelmed,
The torrents of destruction, they sweep around the bend,
At times I feel forsaken, like my cries are not being heard,
And I wonder how long it willl take, before it’s all over.
But in the midst of all these things, O Lord
I turn my gaze to you
And I know, I know, I know for sure,
that you will take me through.
Cause you’re a God who answers prayers
And I know you’ll hear my cry
You will answer from your mountain
You will lift my head up high
You will grant my hearts desires
And make my dreams come true
Cause after all’s been said and done
My heart takes after you.
