SIA 02: Sin and Divine Grace

Sin enters the story early — but so does grace. Jesus forgives what others condemn. Which will you choose today?

Genesis 3–5
Mark 2

From the very beginning, the Bible is honest about human failure. Genesis chapters 3 to 5 show how sin enters the world and brings pain, broken relationships, and death. Nothing is hidden or softened. Yet even in the middle of judgment, God does not abandon His people. He shows mercy. He shows care. He restrains destruction. In Mark chapter 2, that same grace becomes visible in Jesus. He forgives sins and welcomes those others have pushed aside. These readings remind us that while sin is real, God’s grace is stronger and always moves toward us.

Taken together, these passages show us something important. Even when we fail and fall into sin, God’s grace keeps working. It forgives. It heals. And it restores what sin has broken.

What does this mean for us today? Here are three simple and practical steps shaped by these readings.

First, write down one area where you know you have fallen short. Do not excuse it and do not hide it. Bring it honestly to God in prayer and trust His mercy.

Second, reach out to one person with forgiveness or kindness. Choose someone who may feel ignored, excluded, or difficult to love, and let grace move through you.

Third, list three ways God has cared for you or helped you, even when you did not deserve it. Let gratitude remind you that His love is not earned.

As you move into the rest of your day, remember this. Sin does not have the final word. God’s grace does. You do not have to prove yourself to Him. You are invited to receive forgiveness and to live changed by it.

Thank you for joining me today. Receive God’s grace with humility, and extend it with freedom. Until tomorrow, may His mercy shape the way you live.
