Psalm 113

Praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD, you his servants;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be praised,
both now and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised.
The LORD is exalted over all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD our God,
the One who sits enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes,
with the princes of his people.
He settles the childless woman in her home
as a happy mother of children.
Praise the LORD.

I remember watching a sermon by Louis Giglio a few years ago titled How Great Is Our God. It was a brilliant sermon guaranteed to touch the heart of anyone who listened to it. I have provided a link to the YouTube video in the transcript if you want to watch it (https://youtu.be/X1rPalyUshw). In his talk, he speaks about how the creator of the universe — who is big enough to breathe out trillions of stars in billions of galaxies— cares about us.

I was reminded of his sermon when I read this psalm, which summarizes everything Louis spoke about. The psalmist paints a picture of a God who is beyond comprehension, seated high above all nations, whose glory is above the heavens. This is a God of vastness, of majesty, of unparalleled grandeur. Yet, to quote him, "He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes, with the princes of his people."

Isn't it mind-blowing that the God who crafted galaxies and set the universe in motion is the same God who knows our deepest fears, hopes, and dreams? He's both the God of the vast cosmos and the God of the individual heart. It's a beautiful paradox that should inspire awe and comfort. No matter how insignificant we might feel in the grand scheme of things, we're deeply known and cherished by the Creator of all. Let that make you feel special!

So, as you navigate the complexities of life, remember that the God who sits enthroned on high is also the God who walks beside you, intimately involved in every detail of your journey. And remember also to watch that sermon.

God bless you.
