Scripture in Action 14

A dreamer sold by jealousy, a cry for help, a cup of suffering accepted. See how God works even through pain.

Genesis 35–37
Psalm 12
Mark 14

Betrayal cuts deep. In Genesis chapters 35 to 37, Jacob turns back to God, yet Joseph’s story quickly becomes painful. Jealousy leads his brothers to betray him. Psalm 12 gives words to the ache of living among unfaithful people and cries out for God’s help. In Mark chapter 14, Jesus is betrayed by those closest to Him. He chooses obedience even when it leads to suffering. These readings remind us that human faithfulness may fail, but God’s does not.

When we listen to these readings side by side, a clear truth emerges. God remains faithful even when people betray us, and He continues to work through pain to fulfill His purposes.

How do we live this out in simple ways? Here are three practical steps for today.

First, ask God to show you any jealousy, resentment, or self-interest that may be harming your relationships. Be honest and open before Him.

Second, stand for what is right in one situation today, even if others choose a different path.

Third, take one clear step toward forgiveness. This may be through prayer, a word, or a kind action toward someone who has hurt you.

As today unfolds, keep this in mind. God’s faithfulness does not waver, even when people fail you, and He can be trusted with your pain.

Thank you for joining me today. Hold on to God’s faithfulness and choose obedience, even when it is costly. Until tomorrow, may His steadfast love guard your heart.
