A prison cell, a cross, a silence that isn’t the end. See how God works even when the story looks like defeat.
Some passages of Scripture do not offer easy comfort. They speak of injustice, silence, and suffering that feels undeserved. In Genesis chapters 38 to 40, human failure is on full display, yet Joseph chooses faithfulness while being falsely accused and imprisoned. In Mark chapter 15, Jesus suffers without cause and is crucified, bearing pain He did not deserve. What appears to be defeat is not the end of the story. God is still at work, even in places marked by loss and darkness.
Taken together, these passages show us something important. God continues His work through injustice and suffering, bringing redemption where we least expect it.
So how do we respond today? Here are three simple and practical steps shaped by today’s readings.
First, choose integrity in one situation today, even if it costs you something or goes unnoticed by others.
Second, place one painful or unfair circumstance into God’s hands. Instead of reacting with anger, choose patience and trust.
Third, respond with grace in one moment where you feel tempted to defend yourself or strike back.
As you continue through your day, remember this. God’s purposes are not stopped by suffering, and His redemption often unfolds quietly and slowly.
Thank you for joining me today. Remain faithful in difficult moments, and trust that God is still working beyond what you can see. Until tomorrow, may hope sustain you.
